![]() ![]() Thing that's deal breaker for me is their trendency to eat engines. Great chassis, handling, looks good, terrible reliability, terrible gas mileage for how underpowered it is. The RX-8 is interesting in that it's somewhat practical. The Z is not, might as well get a Miata as far as practicality goes. The MS3 is just plain better on all fronts. How convenient is the 350z really? It's got one of the weirdest interiors, 2 seats, poor gas mileage and requires premium. Why? For this reason alone: "I like 350zs." What kind of reason is that? Consider that we're young men who hangout with friends 3, 4, 5 times a week and often drive places with more than 2 people in a vehicle. He'll argue that he'd take a 350z or an RX-8 over a MS3 anyday and a 350z over an RX-8 any day. "I don't care dude, I just don't like them." The MS3 has room for people to sit in it (we often go on road trips, so this should make an impact) I've had several discussions on this with one of my friends who's hell bent on 350zs. If it meets all of my other requirements with flying colors, but it's not the coolest looking car I can live with that. I don't think they look bad and on top of that, looks are NOT my first priority in getting a car. I'm gonna need to do a bit of MS3 specific research, and if I don't uncover anything particularly nasty, I'll look into getting one in the next month or two. I haven't seen any other car that offers quite as much for the same price. I think I'm sold on the MS3 at this point. I do like that the 2nd gen looks a little more aggressive though. I wouldn't be embarrassed to have either. I'm torn on the looks between the Gen 1 and Gen 2. If you go that route, be very patient and stick to those criteria and the chances of you getting a car that will last a long time will be very high. Like others have talked about, alot of WRX's out there have been absolutely trashed and abused. I would have to get my receipts but that's about 1000 or less spent on actual repairs in nearly 10 years of ownership and 120k-ish miles. A cracked radiator, 02 sensor, valve cover gaskets, a torn CV boot, and a upper radiator hose that got a pinhole in it. It's at 175k and Ive spent very little above regular maintenance and major service intervals. I bought my 03 WRX wagon from a 30ish year old, 1 owner, completely stock, with maintenance records at 58k. make sure the owner has ALL maintenance records It just shows a lack of knowledge on the owners part about the car as these two items are completely unnecessary on 99.9% of these cars. Stay away from any that have a BOV and a turbo timer. try your best to buy a stock car, but a few mods arent too bad(such as exhaust with a proper tune). Follow this criteria strictly and you should be safe.
